Aren't these baby fern fronds just darling? We saw them at the Plimoth Plantation near Plymouth, Massachusetts last spring. To see new life uncurling in nature like this gives me a sweet little thrill. It's been like that ever since I was a young girl hunting for blooming hepaticas, the first springtime wild flowers to appear in the woods surrounding the home place in Hayward, Wisconsin.
